Reverend Jesse Jackson visits New Initiatives

On 9th March 2005, New Initiatives had the pleasure to host a wonderful event in honour of civil and human rights activist, Reverend Jesse Jackson. The event was covered by the national media and was a tremendous success. The occasion was also attended by Revd Jackson's two Sons, representatives from the Rainbow Coalition, PUSH and the London Development Agency that included Lee Jasper (Race Adviser to the Mayor of London), Elders in the Africentric community and a full house of community support.

The purpose of the visit was to meet the young Men on the ORIGIN programme who were in full attendance supported by their families and approximately 200 other members of the community. This was one of the best occasions in the history of New Initiatives and led to an invitation from Revd Jackson to explore establishing the ORIGIN programme in Chicago.
